Hawaii Oceanic Technology (HOTI)is a “clean tech” company that is commercializing ocean thermal energy conversion technology (OTEC) to power a variety of environmentally responsible open ocean platforms for aquaculture, energy production and persistent power generation. Foremost is the design for large scale open ocean aquaculture vessels capable of producing 2,000 tons of biomass. The open Aquasphere™ is targeted to be sold to foreign and domestic markets intent on meeting the world’s increased demand for seafood protein. In addition to the Aquasphere™, the company is also pursuing permits and an ocean lease to conduct a Yellow Fin and Big Eye (known as Ahi in Hawaii) tuna aquaculture operation in Hawaiian territorial waters.
